Highlands highjinks

So the UK nearly spilt into two pieces the other week, not sure if you heard about it in the news?  It was, you know, kind of a big deal.  And also insane.

Anyhoo I thought I’d celebrate the Scots’ decision to stay put with a little Highlands-inspired event design shizzle.  Everything about this soiree is perfection, from the trad cut crystal glassware and silver candlesticks, to the multi-hued brass-vase-clad florals, to the gorgeous envelope liners and generally delectable stationery – LOVE.  Feast your peepers.

Romantic whimsy

I received a question recently from a reader asking where she could find some bad ass mercury vases, after seeing this beaut I featured on le blog many a moon ago now (LHS):

I’m actually not a massive fan of mercury glass in interiors, not really my bag baby, but I am pretty partial to it in a pretty table setting.

So I thought I would have a squiz for a few more romantic tablescapes.

Cute, no?

And in case you’re feeling inspired, here’s the good stuff:

Oysters and anemones

I just came across these insanely gorgeous images of a 30th birthday party held at Hog Island Oyster Farm and can’t stop gawping at them.

I love seeing these whimsical fun creations people come up with, so here’s a little dose of fun bright colour for your Friday!

Have a happy weekend loves!

Ding ding ding!

To the bling bling bling…ahem.  So yesterday’s post seems to have gone down pretty well I am happy to say, and the gold cutlery has been on the receiving end of an appropriate amount of lovin’.  So I thought today I’d share a few tablescape inspo piccies with you lot.

I’ve been totally head over heels for the goldies for a good few years now, in fact I even vaguely seriously considered buying 90 sets for our wedding as I couldn’t source any on island.  But {IRRITATINGLY} the moment that I’m actually finally in the market for some flatware, Zara Home goes and sells out of the design I’ve been coveting forever, the little stinkers.  There are quite few styles on the market right now but the only other set that’s really caught my eye are the DVF Home goodies – unfortunately these beauts are priced a smidge outside our budget…like 20 times.

Anyhoo, I will triumph in the end, don’t you worry about that – as an added incentive we shall be using these uggers buggers until I find some goodies to replace them:

IKEA crap cutlery

Yuck.  So here are a few examples of quite simple and calm tablescapes (oh, apart from that fierce animal print tablecloth, oops)…

…and some fabulous IN YOUR FACE ones:

Aaaand lastly, do you remember this insane editorial by Rue Mag, from way back when?

I love them all, but which is your fave…?

Merry Merry Christmas

Here’s wishing all you fabulous readers a wonderful Christmas and very Happy New Year!  I’m going to sign off for the festive season today, with a cute tablescape appropriate for those of us spending Crimbles in tropical climes.  I always thought shell decor was a smidge twee, but this gorgeous imagery has changed my mind for good.

We’re not actually hosting this year (in our drab temporary serviced apartment…) but maybe next year I shall try to create something similar.

Wine tasting wonders – part 2

So despite the fact that it’s a tad early in the morning to be thinking about el vino, I thought I’d put together a shopping guide to the best wine glasses out there right now.  I so love setting our table when we throw dinner parties for friends and family, think we may need to invest in a few of these beauts to up the ante a notch or two!

Which is your pick…?
