Loving London

It’s so good to be home!  Chuffing chilly, I have seemingly turned into a total wimp sometime in the last four years, but good!  We’ve both been working full time so haven’t got to explore as much as normal but we’ve been loving catching up with buddies and the familias.

We headed to Borough Market last night for dins with some friends – possibly my favourite spot in the city – and I thought I’d re-post some pics I took a long long time ago now.  Love this place, you must go visit next time you’re in town!

And a few gratuitous festive shots…

We’re heading into the countryside for the weekend but are hitting up more fave city spots next week, can’t wait!

How’s everybody doing?  All ready for Crimbo??  Have a happy weekend.

Merry Merry Christmas

Here’s wishing all you fabulous readers a wonderful Christmas and very Happy New Year!  I’m going to sign off for the festive season today, with a cute tablescape appropriate for those of us spending Crimbles in tropical climes.  I always thought shell decor was a smidge twee, but this gorgeous imagery has changed my mind for good.

We’re not actually hosting this year (in our drab temporary serviced apartment…) but maybe next year I shall try to create something similar.

Have a great one lovelies, lots of love!xx

(Ahem ahem) I’m…dreaming…of a white…Christmas

Well I was a couple of days ago anyway.

Lovelies, please do me a favour: if you ever travel from the States to Asia, make sure you grab yourself a window seat on the midday Delta Atlanta/Tokyo flight.  It will BLOW YOUR MIND!  We’d never seen Alaska, Siberia or the Bering Straits before (and yeh I still haven’t managed to get my head around why we flew up to practically the North Pole just to get to Japan – could have stopped by Santa’s place), and essentially chased the sunset for about 9 hours over the mountains, ravines, snow fields, frozen rivers and bloody icebergs!  Insane!  Excuse my french please.

These are the best pics I can find online but they actually don’t even begin to do it justice – I literally had my snoz pressed up against the window for hours and hours:

Tundra Snow

All the snow and forests made me start frigging finally to feel a smidge festive.  Hong Kong and Cayman aren’t the easiest places to channel a little Santa (one place doesn’t celebrate Christmas, the other is plastered in palm, not pine, trees…), but gazing out at these bonkers sights made me want to start bellowing out a rendition of Jingle Bells at the top of my lungs and brought to mind little wistful ideas of creating something like the following:

Tra la laaaaaaaaa!

Anyhoo, so all festive spirit immediately evaporated into a pouf of hot air when we stepped out of the plane into 80 degree heat here in Singas, but you know what, it was pretty awesome while it lasted.

How are you guys getting on with your Crimbo deco…?

Sale goodies

Ugh, if I see one more DFS sale advert I’m going to scream!!  It really winds me up this time of year – after a lovely and relaxing Crimbles, I’ve just been inundated with emails and adverts for 50% off ugly sofas that you would not want even if they were giving them away for free…

Sorry, I’m being scrooge-y, but one email that was very welcome in my inbox yesterday was this fuchsia and zebra Designers Guild sale beaut:

Whether you’re in the mood for monocrome or are having a vibrant floral moment, there should be something for you!

Happy shopping!

Merry Merry Christmas

Just a short and sweet one today peeps!  We landed in a freezing-cold-but-very-festive London yesterday and have been rampaging around the city celebrating birthdays and finishing le Christmas shopping like two crazy people, and still have a lot to do this morning…

So I thought today that I would simply wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and post up some fun festive vignettes I’ve come across in the last week or so.

I hope you all have a happy and peaceful weekend,

Elly xx

Scandinavian sass – part 3

So as you read this I’ll be coming to the end of an extreeeemely long and uncomfortable cross-Atlantic flight (but will be back in Blighty, wahoo), so here is one I made earlier…

This Residence magazine was a real find you know (and, in fact, the magazine ‘Livet på landet’ they link through to), they have some good shizzle online.  Such as…the gorgeous festive home of some Swedish chick that I thought I would share with you today.  I’m not entirely sure who she is as my Swedish is not too hot (Nina, you reading this today?!) but she sure does have a nice home – I am hankering after those sheepskin-covered dining chairs in a MAJOR way.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Festive bling

So it’s suddenly come to my attention that we’re approaching Crimbo at quite a pace.  Our tree is up and glittering, we have carols bellowing out of the stereo every evening and there are more Christmas lights here in Cayman than I think in probably the whole of the British Isles, but I’m still not feeling massively festive I have to admit.  I think it might be to do with the fact that it’s 82 degrees and sunny today…

Anyhoo, so I’ve suddenly realised I need to find a bunch of Crimbo pressies for my family and friends and last night turned into a bit of an internet shopping Crazy Lady.  But during my ramblings I stumbled across these delightfully bling-tastic dining accessories from Liberty’s and ever so slightly fell in love – I thought I’d share them in case anyone is looking for something similar.

Pretty, huh?  Or do you think they’re tacky?! I personally love ’em.
