Trellis tactics

So up on our roof terrace we have this uggers white painted metal fencing that is going a smidge rusty and just generally offends my eyes every time I go up there.  We’ve been concocting this plan to cover the whole thing in bamboo trellis and vines to mask it, the first step of which I did last week:

Clearly I have some work to do to get it looking good though, ha.  That storm cloud was a total weasel too.

So I’ve been pondering which tropical vines would work for our space and have decided to opt for a combo of white jasmine and wisteria, because they make me think of India and are generally le bee’s knees:

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

So here are a few inspo piccies that I’m diggin’ right now – hopefully our terrace will resemble one of these soooon:

The wisteria just looks amazing! And the smell of the jasmine will be wonderful. I can’t wait!

  2. Mum says:

Lovely combination but I am not sure that wisteria is practical. It grows much taller than your trellis and you would have to be patient for it to flower – two years?

  3. Perfect choice. We have them in our garden, too and I just adore the fragrance! Another great thing about jasmin is that it grows quickly, too.

  4. Lovely idea, Elly, your terrace will be like Monique’s house – a heaven of scents, but yours will be natural, isn’t that great? I heard that it is raining a lot in Singapore, the monsoon raining period starts in March, isn’t it, so why?

  5. Ohmigosh YES! Elly, this would be so gorgeous. The inspiration pictures remind me of a secret garden. :D

Hi Elly, I actually don’t think the fence looks so bad, but then maybe thats a really good photo of it! Love the floral wall idea, I didn’t even know flowers could do that, its magical! I am so looking forward to the before and after shots! Thanks for your visit, hope you are having a great week so far and Happy Valentine’s day, if you’re celebrating :)
