Roof deck conundrums – part 1

So we’ve been having a little drama with the old landlords lately regarding our roof terrace.  It’s pretty dull to be honest so I shall not bore you with the deets, but basically it turns out there are restrictions on what we can do up there, and I am furious.  Ha, that pretty much sums up the situation.  I was thinking we’d get a wood/trellis structure made up there for sun and rain shelter but alas we’ve been conned.

Soooo our thinking caps have been donned, le hubs has come up with a great semi-solution to the issue and I’m scrabbling to see if it will work before our first guests arrive this weekend (hi Mum!  hi Pops!).  But I’m still totally caught in two minds about the decor up there.  I managed to get my grubby mitts on a bargainous ‘pre-loved’ Balinese daybed and oversize coffee table a few weeks ago, which look a little like zeees:

So essentially the fight is on: Morocco vs Bali.

I’m thinking I’ll go for a bit more colour outdoors, either blues or oranges / pinks…  Anyway, here are some pics of the Moroccan terraces I’ve been loving lately, enjoy please!

Round 2 tomorrow, make sure you stop by por fav!

  1. Alistair says:

Definitely love the colourful cushions and lamps… Very Elly. But Balinese style is a bit more soothing and relaxing methinks!

  2. Elly, as much as I love pink and purple and bold colors for a fact, I think that for the Marrocan style, I will chose either the first one with fuchsia flowers or the last two ones, but with some yellow and/or orange flowers. For me, the Marrocan style is a tricky one, I can never make the difference between an original Marrocan and a kitch Marrocan style, the line is to narrow for me. But you are a connaiseur, I bet you can pull out a great Marrocan style. Can’t wait for tomorrow Bali’s style because I know nothing about it. So, you are having some guests this weekend? Well, you have to find “le solution” ;). Kisses

  3. Sam says:

Aw no about the restrictions…can this be solved in any way? You have me daydreaming about these gorgeous outdoor havens, I don’t even think the style matters because it looks so serene and relaxing. Although…Moroccan is looking quite appealing right now.

  4. I LOVE the use of vibrant pinks, purples, and oranges. Don’t the shades remind you of the colors seen at Indian Spice Markets. Absolutely swoon-worthy. You are going to create something magical, Elly!! 🙂
