Design classic (22) – Butterfly stool

Morning lovelies and a very happy Friday to you!  We’re having such a fab time here in Japan – visiting snowy hot springs, staying in traditional Japanese hotels with the shoji screens and tatami mats etc., and eating waaay too much great sushi!

So I thought I’d dedicate this Design Classic post to the very Japanese and minimalist Butterfly Stool.  Designed by Yanagi Sōri in 1956, this elegant, graceful piece is the perfect accent chair in my humbles opinion:

Here are a few ideas for incorporating the stool – they seem to be particularly popular in bathrooms but I love ’em all!!

LOOOVE them in The [brilliant] Folly in London also (see here for more piccies!)

Really enamoured with this one, so soothing:

Have a fabulous weekend lovelies!!

Hi dear, so good to hear things are going well in Japan, hope that you will share some pics of the city 🙂 Very funky stool! Nice modern appeal, I liked it best in the last image, and as the bookstand by the bed, cute and useful! Have a splendid weekend!
