Monday’s Masterpiece – modern rustic barn conversion

Whew, what an amazing weekend!!  I’m totally exhausted – have been running around old Blighty catching up with friends, think I’m going to need another holiday to get over this one…

So I spent Saturday in a gorgeous old village just outside of Oxford, a rather large part of which was sat in the sunshine at this place:

I literaly cannot imagine a more perfect English pub.

Think old school Chesterfields, beamed ceilings (in fact, beamed everything) and more weeping willows than you can shake a stick at – just perfection!

So it got me thinking about rural homes and, in particular, barn conversions – I thought today I would take a lookee at the MOTHER of all barn conversions, designed by Alex Scott Porter:

The combination of warm rustic beams/floorboards and contemporary furnishings is simply divine – check it out and tell me what you think por fav!

I’m not convinced – excluding from the entirely modern rooms (e.g. bathroom) I think the juxtaposition of rustic and new is too abrupt. Prefer the sound of the pub!

I really like a converted barn Elly. For such big spaces, they still can have such a warm and cosy feel. Sounds like you had a pretty fabulous weekend 🙂

I would have never associated a converted barn with such modern glamour, didn’t think I would like it just on hearing the term ‘converted barn’, but gosh, after seeing the exquisite interiors, I am officially sold! When can I move in? 🙂
