Chic Concrete – part 1

So I’ve been increasingly pondering the use of concrete in interior design over the last few months, and have finally been poked into action by a recent Elle Decor article on a concrete bunker in Berlin that’s been renovated into a stylish home.

Check out all this concrete!!  Love the industrial chic aspect to it, and that fireplace in the centre of the living room is just fabulous.

I think it’s quite easy for rooms incorporating this finish, to end up looking a smidge dreary and drab, so it’s important to also include a LOAD of white walls/furniture etc in my opinion.  I’ve found a few other inspiration piccies – concrete seems to be particularly common as kitchens and bathrooms countertops – hope you like!

Yeh, I think I’d limit it to bathrooms and kitchens – it’s a little too harsh for softer spaces I guess. Although I reckon it could be quite cool in a loft living room actually, hmm…

We have concrete counters in our kitchen and we love them! They’re a darker charcoal than the ones you’ve shown here with swirls of deep, deep charcoal. I wouldn’t do anything else!
