Morning morning folks! Today I thought I’d top off the week with a short and sweet design classic post on Eero Aarinan’s Bubble Chair. Designed in 1968, this acrylic bubble hangs suspended by a chain from the ceiling, and is pretty ruddy modern/bonkers if you ask me – I can’t actually decide if I like them or not… The authentic chappies are manufactured by Adelta, and have cushions in a range of colours and fabrics.

I have tried very hard this morning to find decent interior design schemes featuring these bad boys but have come up at a bit of a loss. I’m very selective about what I post up on this blog as I have to admit I’m quite fussy about what I do and do not like, and there are lots of space-age grotesque schemes out there that simply do not cut the mustard!
But here are a few I’ve found that I do approve of – hope you like.
This next one is of Kelly Hoppen’s home and is my fave of the bunch.
She also produces her own version of the chair:
Love the piece mixed with graphic prints here:
And this Living etc. cover story had my jaw on the floor when I saw it for the first time:

So what do you reckon?? Do they look like they should be in a sci fi flick, or would one look right at home in your living room…?

I think they’re really pretentious, unless they’re in a hotel or somewhere. I like the one in the Kelly Hoppen place though, it look more unobtrusive. But look how smug that couple are!
I think I could live without one.
Have a great weekend Elly! Your wedding month weeeeeeeee!
Yeh, I’m deffo still on the fence. I think you have to be very smart with how you place it to make it work well…
You know, I see why it’s hard to find good photos of these. I love them, BUT. Can’t see it in my house. And I have to admit, I’d be a bit nervous in one too! But I’m kind of dumb that way. Happy weekend. Are you ticking down the days to wedded bliss?
Yeh, they sort of look like they’ll fall off the ceiling, no?!
