Flowers Friday – picnic inspiration

I am flying home in 5 days.  5 DAYS!!!  I haven’t been back to Blighty since last October and saying that I am totally hyperactive and over-excited about seeing everyone is the understatement of the year.  We have a lovely wedding and my Dad’s retirement/60th birthday bash to attend, as well as about 4 bajillion drinkies, dinners and shopping dates, and I cannot wait!

So anyway…one of the things I’m (randomly) most excited about is having a big long lazy sunny picnic in Regent’s Park or Kensington Gardens, like in the good old days.  I’ve had a bit of a thing for picnics since I lived in sunny España – I suspect it might be to do with the fact that it’s a decent excuse to whip out a cheeky bottle of cava during the day…  Seriously though, I am a little obsessed with them – we’ve even been known to have the odd ‘carpet picnic’ on rainy days…ahem.

Anyhoo, so a friend of mine (merci, la Greque!) recently sent me a link to this cute sun shade/wind breaker accessory and I thought it would be perfection combined with some chintzy pillows and a wicker picnic hamper etc.  However I started getting a bit bored midway through my polyvore sesh, and decided to spice things up a little with some exotic/ikat accents.

What do you think?  Too eclectic?  Personally, it’s rocking my world, bring on the manchego I say!
